How to Build a Personal Brand

How to Build a Personal Brand

1. Figure out your one thing

There are many people on social media who are extremely popular and are widely recognized, but most people that follow them don’t know what they actually recognize them for. Like what is their true purpose? What are they actually good at? Do they have a trade? A service? Are they a model?

A lot of people have gone viral over one video and all of a sudden have a bunch of followers overnight. After that, they are able to nurture their audience and eventually serve them with ads that advertisers are paying for. Making their “personal brand” profitable. It can be comedians, digital artists, videographers, photographers, make up artists, anyone.

But let’s face it, not everyone is going to go viral. If you plan on building an audience of people that respect your work and your craft then you’re going to have to start like everyone else, by being really good at one thing. The best you can be.

2. Break out of your shell

Don’t be afraid to get out there and seek new business opportunities. Many people think they are not good enough or like their product/service isn’t worthy. Or like they’re not smart or capable enough to get to the next level. Fighting insecurities is no easy task but you got this. Make the decision to take one step closer to becoming the best version of you. Whatever you do for a living or whatever side hustle you want to start is capable of coming to life as long as you take the first step.

3. Pick a platform

Now that you have the courage and understanding you need to know where you will choose to shine.

If you’re a freelancer or entrepreneur some great places to start are

  • LinkedIn
  • Instagram
  • Youtube
  • Building Personal Blog Website

Whatever platform it may be, it will be a hub for everything “you”. Maybe you’re a salesperson and LinkedIn is a platform that catches your eye. Maybe you’re a business owner that wants to share info about their brand on Instagram. Perhaps you like being on camera and you can run a consistent youtube channel or maybe you’re a writer and a blog is the way to go.

Maybe you simply just want to throw a portfolio up on a nice clean website that you can update every so often and skip the day to day social activity.

Whatever it may be, just get it done. Modern cultural shifts influenced by social media and the internet area demand your online presence more and more every day.

4. Share your experience

Share your accomplishments, projects, interests, favorite content related to your cause and relevant questions. The sooner you show others what you bring to the table, the sooner you will find a seat at a table that will influence you and propel you to the next level.

5. Stay active

If your personal brand is going to bring you any results, you’re going to need to stay active on whatever platform or platforms you chose. It’s important to connect with individuals within your field, industry, or interest groups that may bring you future business. There are many ways to do so. You can get started by connecting through direct messages, asking relevant questions on posts, answering questions you may see asked by others or you can use my secret formula.
